Until recently, email has become a terrifying hole where hope and time meet and die slowly, painfully. From the constant battle of hitting "inbox zero", to sorting out who's really important, to folders and flagging so I can get back to my important emails...emails are getting exhausting . Fortunately, I'm not the only one who feels this way. The folks at Basecamp are fed up with the constant emails, and they have some ideas for what could be better. And, boy, did they deliver. In June 2020, the Basecamp team launched HEY, their complete reimagining of what email should be. A hat tip for the past, but industry mailing list a way to get you back in control of your email. Features of HEY include: Notifications are turned off by default (you can control who grabs your attention outside of the app) Easily filter your emails into uniquely designed areas based on purpose Block spy trackers so you don't expose anything you don't want to the sender Editable themes, thread merging, and more I use HEY for all my personal emails for about six months. My gosh, what a difference. My emails are quiet. It's easy to pop and read recent newsletters in their own designated space. Receipts are easy to find.
